Immigrant Hope SH – About Us

Jubilee Institute was launched as a result of several years of efforts by Christ Community Church (West End, NC) to build bridges with the Hispanic community, particularly through area churches.  These efforts included church renovation projects, medical clinics, and theology classes to train Hispanic pastors and church leaders.  Over time, the leadership of Jubilee Institute and Christ Community Church realized the broader needs within the Hispanic community within Moore County, NC and beyond, especially as it related to immigration legal services.

As part of the vision of the Jubilee Institute, leadership created the Board of Directors for Immigrant Hope – Sandhills to begin the extensive application process to become recognized as an accredited site to practice limited immigration law or provide immigration legal services before the Department of Justice (DOJ). This included having volunteers and staff also become recognized as partial accredited representatives before the DOJ.

The process was completed in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and the center and personnel received their certification letters on November 9, 2020.  The Immigrant Hope – Sandhills Center opened in June, 2022 and began offering limited immigration legal aid services to area immigrants.

As the center begins to grow and various needs arise, they will offer additional legal aid services.  The center also plans to offer a variety of educational classes assisting clients in preparing for naturalization interviews and other life skills as well as counseling groups and individual meetings.
