Counseling Services

I am Winstona Daisy Cole. I am originally from Sierra Leone and I have been in the United States for 26 years. I practice Immigration law and I am currently doing a Master’s program on Clinical Mental Health at Colorado Christian University. I am one year into my training and I will be providing counseling under supervision at Immigrant Hope, Sandhills.

My professional and personal experiences and achievements have largely influenced my desire to receive training in mental health counseling. I have been an immigration attorney for twenty years. My practice is centered mainly on family and humanitarian immigration. I have represented and counseled clients form different cultural and social backgrounds who have had various traumatic experiences.

I immigrated to the United States in 1997 and adapting to life was extremely difficult and traumatic. I was always sad and I thought it was normal. I did not realize the psychological impact of the displacement and forced migration on my life. When I was admitted to the bar in the United States, I made a promise to God and myself that, I will help others navigate the immigration system showing them compassion and empathy.

Proverbs 31: 8-9 was impressed on my heart whilst I was waiting to receive my bar exams result; “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and the needy.” This became my guiding scriptures for my work.
